#16326, "Sure glad I bought that new rod & reel..."

I purchased a new Bass Pro Shops 7-foot spinning combo on-line last week, hopefully as a good drop-shotting rig -- just a day or two before I found out they're MOVING MY JOB DOWN TO AUSTIN, TX!!! And to top that off, it's highly doubtful I'll be allowed to follow the job down there! Only a few 'key individuals' with 'specialized knowledge' will be asked to relocate to TX, which leaves about a hundred of us out in the cold.

Well, at least they gave us a couple of months to dwell on it. The 'transition' is not expected to be complete til the end of the year, or maybe even January. I guess that beats getting told the day you come in to work, like they've done with the numerous waves of layoffs I've survived here (Applied Materials) over the past few years. I suppose they needed to put the rumors to rest & not leave us hanging; thus, the 'generous' advance notice. Boy, talk about having a dark cloud hovering over your head! Some of the folks in the group have been really stressing, and the *sick time* usage has really begun to kick in over the past week or so!

Thanks, Gray Davis, for chasing my employer out of the valley! Your recall *couldn't* have anything to do with your turning your back on the people of this, my wonderful native state, eh?!! Gotta keep those teacher/labor unions happy to get their big bucks, right?!!! There're plenty of other taxpayers out there to replace the ones you're running out on a rail! ("Right-Wing power grab," my butt!).

Oh, well, the way I figure, they can't repossess my boat if I'm out in the middle of a *lake* on it, now, can they??? :D Of course, I'll always have my kickboat, regardless of where I end up! That's a good thing!

Sorry for venting here, but if any of you are aware of any Planning/Data Management-type jobs out there, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me pass on my resume to you! You can e-mail me at: jsmith24@hotmail.com , or call me at home - 408-224-9113, if you know of any job openings along those lines.

Hmmm... might end up with a little more time for *fishing* here in the months to come! How bad can that be???
