Now that you mention it, someone told me they saw someone actually mount their trolling motor on the foot rest and ran it in reverse, seemed to work great, easy to get your hand to the control comfortably and would be centered enough (not off on the side) that would move straighter. Hummmm, may have to try that, not sure if my wires are long enough (9' pontoon boat). But then I have the nice mount and set up already in place from the factory. I use my fins more than the motor anyways. Usually two or three times in a days fishing I will actually use it, point a to b to c and back to launch, rest is kick and even paddling sometimes (but I try not to do much of that exercise stuff).
