#35744, "Fish finder rigging, phase 1"

After my Piranha 5 fish finder died in a rainstorm last year I finally ordered up a new one. My new toy was on the doorstep Friday when I got home and I couldn't wait to start getting it set up for the new season.

I got one of these... an Eagle FishMark 320

The first step was figuring out how I wanted to mount the transducer. I was fairly happy with the way I had done it with the Piranha so I decided to just keep it the same. It is simple and makes it easy to raise and lower the transducer from the water while sitting in the seat. ya know, just in case you need to crash some tules or scoot across a weed bed and don't want it in the water to get fouled with stuff.

Got my materials together and went to work

First I made a PVC shaft that mounts to the frame to mount the transducer onto.

The shaft and mount consist of a 1 inch T, a 3/4 inch coupling, and a length of 3/4 inch pipe.

I modified the transducer bracket that came with the unit to fit around the end of the shaft and it is held on with 2 screws that extend through the shaft.

The shaft mounts to a frame cross member at the front of the seat

I cut a slot in the T to fit it around the frame and it is held in place with a couple of hose clamps.

Now that the Transducer is mounted It was time to get to the wiring.

To Be Continued...
