Yes. That is a very good summary. The war is ON right now. These proposed DFG regulation changes represent a battle in the war. The long term goal is for ecosystem destruction via the peripheral canal. Please educate the young people on this issue; a public resource being privatized at the expense of the public.

We are battling collusion between the state government, corporate agriculture, and urban sprawl/endless suburban development. Isn't it ironic that corporate agriculture is trying to kill off a renewable resource of the most nutritious foods in the world (wild salmon)? Killing off the ecosystem will increase dependence on these same corporations. The Bay Area's and Northern CA's self sufficiency are at stake here. There is no way to calculate the long-term cost of this proposed ecosystem destruction.

The California salmon industry represents $3 billion dollars of annual economic benefit every year. What is the present value of $3 billion dollar per year in perpetuity? The bass/striper/catfish/sturgeon economy around the Delta is quite significant.

This is a non-partisan issue. It boils down to science, long-term benefit of the ecosystem, and smart agriculture/development. There many people that would sell the future for a quick buck today.

Most level-headed people would call BS on this peripheral canal business.
