#45164, "Open Report From A Little Further Down The Leaderboard"
Well I thought I would give a report from someone who struggled. I had high hopes for myself leading up to this tournament and felt even more confident when I arrived on Friday only to see a decent limit living right underneath the dock that we were camping by. I had plans to get up there early and fish all day Friday to figure something out. When I got unloaded I got very lazy and all I wanted to do is spend my time sitting in a chair in the sun and read my Bassmaster. Horrible idea!
Day1: I planed to head to the small section of keys on the east side until I saw about 2/3 of the field heading that way. I stopped by the docks straight across from the launch and on my third flip with a Senko I get bit and loose that fish half way back to the boat. A couple docks over I get bit again and land a 5. Cast back in to the same spot and get a 1.5. After that fish I thought IT IS ON! I made my way to the east side keys and notice that a bunch of guys are coming out so I turned around and went into the other side of the keys. I couldn't catch sh!t in there so I braved the waves and went into open water for nothin. Went back to the first docks and caught nothin but short fish. I was fairly bummed that I didn't have the day that I thought so I weighed in and started drinkin! C'mon raffle! I did end up getting a limit of winning raffle tickets! Lots of cool stuff including a BNT shirt and a couple Cathem Caro baits. Thanks Rich!
Day2: I started on the same docks as day 1 and didn't get anything so I decided I was going to grind it out in the keys and only ended up getting 2 fish all day. Should've went sight fishing! Ended up in 30th place.
Despite my struggles that was one of the most fun weekends I have had in a long time. Rob, Mitch, Taylor, and Steve, you guys ran a GREAT tournament! Thank you Oscar, Rich and others for getting the raffle together.
