I used to carry my 8-ft Outcast PAC-800 on my Honday Accord, with a Thule (brand-name) roof rack (the type with just two bars going across the width of the car). Like Joey says, it looked like I would take off any second -- those banana-shaped tubes were damn near as long as the car! :+ With the roof rack, though, it really made it simpler to tie down. 70 MPH or better -- no problem!

As for the tie-downs themselves, I went to our local 'Sports Rack' store (see them on the web @: www.sportsrack.com ), where they have what they call their "Cushion Wrap Tie Down - TD15C." See the picture below. You can probably find this type of strap wherever you would find bike racks, etc. I also got some from Outcast -- www.outcastboats.com -- they call them 'cam straps.'

They work incredibly well. I have about a dozen of them, cut to different lengths, to cinch down securely anything I have to attach to my car, truck or RV (or even to the wall or ceiling in my garage!).
