I've been looking at kickboats for about 2 months now and got interested in them when I saw them at my first tournament. My birthday is coming up in August and my mom says maybe I can get a kickboat before the next tournament in August. The one I wanna get is the ODC 816. I've read through the archives and have heard nothing but good things about it and the price is not too expensive. I plan on putting a six piece rod holder on it and a cooler as the livewell. I've seen a cooler made by Igloo called the Marine Series. The two sizes I'm thinking about putting on it are a 54 quart that is 24"long x 15" wide x 15 1/2" high. The other is the same brand and model and is a 72 quart that is 30" long x 17" wide x 17" high. Would these be to big or two small? Do most of the guys that use these make any modifications to the back part of the boat? I was thinking of putting a flat piece of plywood over the whole back and putting the livewell on thier with the sides tall so the live well dose'nt move around. Would this be a good idea? I don't really know alot about these boats but my dad could help me modify by welding or anything else. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions that you may give.
