#24624, "Fun Day on Clear Lake Sunday 28 Nov"

Met my buddy at Konocti and launched in his boat about 7:30, and started off right in the boat slips at Konocti and beat the tar out of the crappie on UL gear an mini jigs for a couple of hours, and then went looking for bass after the weather warmed up a bit. We had found last week that all the bigger fish we could find had moved to deep water and were herding shad. Ran over to Shag Rock, and spooned a couple big magnum crappie, and found no bass. Moved to Henderson point to look around over there, and saw tons of birds, but none of them were working or diving. Cruised around for a few minutes and didn't really find much bait, but we fished anyway with some spoons. My buddy got a couple big crappie on a spoon, and I was thinking about putting the crappie jig back on when my spoon just stopped......hard. After a good drag rippin fight, a 7.3 bass comes into the boat. I think it was somebody's tournament fish recently. It had slit under it's chin like they get when they stay on your cull tags. Anyway, after weighing, we sent her back. Fished around there a while longer and didn't catch any more. We went back to Konocti to harrass the crappie some more, and spooned the outside of the slips and I got another bass about 3 mixed in with tons of crappie. Pulled around the back side and got a few on a jerkbait, but no size. We went back to the outside of the slips, and my buddy swears he won't put down the spoon till he gets a keeper bass on it. After probably another 40 or so crappie between us, he finally stuck a 14 incher on the spoon, and we called it a day shortly after.

All in all, we had only a few keeper bass, but had a blast catching crappie and bluegills as long as we wanted to. If anyone wants a bag of crappie for the freezer, go now and have some fun.
