We had some big minus tides over the last couple days so I went ab pickin' for the first time. Scored a limit in 15 minutes! }( First off, I didn't know abs were like snails. I thought they were like clams or oysters with two shell halves that could close. But no, just one shell and a foot that hangs the critter to the rock. So I had picked my last ab when I realized my bag was out of reach. I'd put it on some rock about 35 or 40 yards away. No big deal. As I walked over to my bag the ab started trying to crawl out of it's shell. This was just majorly weird, I'm holding this shell upside down and a giant tongue looking thing was moving and squirming and oozing and... I almost dropped the ab and ran off screaming like a little girl. Then I just laughed my ass off. These things really look disgusting. :P
And nothing is nastier than cleaning abalone. But dang they are sooo damned tasty when it's all said and done. :9 :D :9 :D :9 :D
