Here's a letter from the BBAC to all concerned delta anglers. Our help is needed now. It's time to stop the SoCal water wasters and put an end to their raping of the delta.
Here is the most important part of the letter IMO... This project has major backing from the Southern California organizations and the time-is ticking.DWR has conducted 3 public hearings already. DWR and US B of R are in the 90 day public review cycle that started November 20 and runs to February 7, 2006. At the end of this time their duty to inform the public is complete and they will move forward.

Delta Dam Projects for 2006 We need your help now!
The Department of Water Resources ( DWR ) and the US Bureau of Reclamation are responsible for the water quality of the Sacramento and San Joaquin River Delta. Together they have devised a plan to put 4 dams on the Delta causing flooding in geographic areas. People living in the area have expressed concern about, increase leave stress, enormous harm to the fishery and eco system all in the name of Delta improvements. The BBAC and the Allied Fishing Groups has formally come out against this project.
The project known as the South Delta Improvement Project ( SDIP ) primary purpose is to flood the Delta and use it as a water storage system so they can ship an extra 5,000,000 gallons of water per day to Los Angeles and South. People this is only the Tip-of the-Ice-Burg. This year its 5,000,000 gallons per day but long term it could be 10,000,000. The people behind this project have little regard for the fisherman, home owners on the Delta like Discovery Bay or Bethel Island. Hi Tide swings due to , winter rain and restrictive water flow caused by the Dams can cause major damage to our Leeves, Homes and Docks. During the summer months when we have lower tides and they are pumping we may see ultra low areas and mud bottoms damaging our fishing habitat because they are chancing the river flow.
They are proposing 4 dams that will span end to end on selected canal, Old River, Grantline Canal, Middle River and Old River where it leaves the San Joaquin River. In some cases we are talking about Dams100 feet long possibly more, that flood very large areas. The enormous inflow of new water being sucked into the Delta will cause the salt water to intrude far into the Delta contaminating Franks Tracks and other Area. For this reason a separate project to add a 5th Dam is proposed at False River between Big break and Franks Track. This Dam is in the proposal stage to reduce the salt inflow.
