Hey Guys,

I had a couple of friends from work think they could beat me and Mike at a little bass fishing at their local reservoir. I have fished off shore a couple times at Lafayette but never in my kickboat here's the day.

Launch was a little rough we had to walk our boats and gear to the lake just over 100 yards slightly down hill. Water temp 69-71 through out the day air temp was 62 in the morning and got up to the low 80's by 2pm. It was cloudy most of the morning so it made it nice. I started with the Slammer (one of my favorite baits) third cast I caught a 4lb 13ozer, I was throwing to the tullies and working it out.

Lafayette is a little werid you have the shore then tullies with the tullies already in 5 - 10 feet of water, 4 - 5 feet from there you have a weed line, then it drops to 15 - 20 feet.

I worked the slammer for 20 more minutes with no love. I decided I need to learn some more about the dreaded spinner bait, in the past 3 years I've thrown a spinner bait and only caught 2 fish. That would change today, usually I would throw parallel to weed line but my slammer fish came perpendicular to the tullies and that would be the ticket, in the next couple hours I would get a fish every 10 - 15 casts and so was Mike. I never picked up another rod that day.

My best five went 16lbs 5oz and Mike did not keep track but he did get one over 5lbs. My buddies from work got skunked other then a 4lb catfish, their prespective on what we do has changed and now they understand why it is called fishing and not catching.

It was a awesome day even though it was a little expensive to get in and a little hard to launch I would do it again. Even my son wants to go again as you can see in the picture he caught a lot of Z's.
