I finally found a guide and confirmed a reservation for a steelhead trip on the Smith River for Dec 27th. Right now it's only me. But there is room for 1 or 2 more if anyone wants to go.
The trip is with Denardi Outfitting of Yreka. The cost is $150 per person.
The last report said the river came up and brought fresh steelies in the system. The water level has dropped however. The Kings are about done. One more good rain or a storm will finish them and get the steelies up in quantity.
The steelhead that are there now are few but big. By Christmas it'll be ripe.

The plan is to drive up on the 26th and get a room in Crescent City. We'll fish the 27th then either you can go home or hang out to fish the Smith, Eel and Mad from the bank on the 28th to the 30th, then go home on the 31st.
