This past weekend i got to the lake and when i got to my first spot and lowered the trolling motor it was dead. I discovered that it was a blown fuse in the fuse holder that is on the red positive trolling motor cable, since i did not have an extra one i said f*&k this i'll just cut the fuse holder from the cable and connect it directly to the battery. Well to my surprise it still did not work so at this point i don't know if the fuse holder is needed in order for the motor to work.

CAREFUL that fuse protects the wiring and other devices that relate. dont open another can of worms, you have a short between the fuse and the trolling motor(in actual trolling motor). un-plug the motor and with a volt meter check voltage from the fuse(in your case tied through wire) to unplugged motor(female plug)if you have the right volts 24v/36v. problem = motor No volts problem is in wiring from fuse to female plug, you can easily pull new wires if you had too, tape new wires to the old ones and pull back. mice and other critters love wire.
