I went to castaic sunday 18th I cant give you too much info besides fishing with the 7 inch osprey I caught 2 bass about 3 pounds on it and had alot of fish follow the osprey up to the boat including one that looked about 15 pounds but no take most of the fish that I graphed were in 10 to 15 feet of water I heard working a plastic in 10 to 15 feet of water was the key but I did not try plastics I was to busy trying to catch a teen with the osprey good luck.

Ryan,

What areas do you throw the Osprey's at? I have never had any luck with swimbaits there. Any tips?

Fish the smaller plastics. Try a 4-6" straight tail worms. Purples, shad paterns, and if your seeing a lot of baby bass try a green patern. Try either drop shotting or try using a split shot rig with a small bull shot (bullet split shot) about 18 above the hook. You can experiment with the length of the weight as it is adjustable but try not to clamp it down too tight. You just end up crimping the line and ultimately loosing fish. When fishing the the split shot be ready when you cast as many bites occur as the bait is falling. If the lure falls slower the fish have more of chance to see the bait falling. That's wny the light weight is key. I've just been fly lining the plastic worms and letting the weight of the hook drop the lure down slowly. If you don't get bit on the drop I just keep working it very slow.

Try working the coves, points, drop offs, and this time of year you will probably have luck fishing the outside of grass and weedbeds as well. Of course a weedless rigged bait is the way to go for the beds. No matter what you use present your lure very slowly. Also try top water, or swimbaits/crankss/buzz-spinnerbaits in early morning or evening if you find the right conditions.

I havn't fished Castiac this year or last year because I mostly fish fishing saltwater on the weekends. I know these techniques will work though. Good luck.
