What is going on with SARL? I was out to day and all they did was herras me to see what my limit was. People wher getting kicked out for over limits. All the fish are small and are not worth the $18.00 I payed. I go for the One or two 10lb or larger. If I don't get some thing big I'm going to make it up. One guy was charged $50.00 for over limit and if he did not pay they would take his tackle untill he did. This bad I will not return. Many people go and do not get fish I will away give them away. They do not loose out on anything. They are just gready. I guess that "CRAYVE jUNK" is making them go bankrupt.

Are you sayin that the over-limits are getting bad and that is why you are not returning or because they are fining people for over limits. and im sorry that because you think that you pay 18.00 to get in means you should catch one or two 10 pounders.

Hey there dlcpoacher,

Verrrrrrrrrrrrry Interrrrrrrresting! With the recent screaming and yelling concerning another lake with men in bla.... I mean a bunch of lake personnel with radios paracticing S.W.A.T. team manuvers on hapless shore anglers, maybe S.A.R.L. is starting it's own bootcamp. ha ha ha Sorry to hear of your unhappy and unfortunate experience.

I see hard times are all around us. Greatly improved from last year, even Irvine is not excluded from various the trials and tribulations either. I'm a flyfishing catch and release guy and use undersized, barbless hooks. Funny thing about those light wire hooks! One slight mistake and the fish is gone. But... no intentional releases.

When checked I've asked when they are going to start giving discounts to angler who were given an authorized C&R pass. There answer... Huh, what? If they are so darn worried about their cost of stocking vs the poaching er... taking over limits, surely guys like me would be welcomed! Ha! Discounts, fat Chance!

Just a thought,

JapanRon

Now there is an idea!! I thought once about going to Laguna Niguel , but their strict policy against catch and release turned me off. I fish for the tight line, not the meat. I would hate to limit in an hour or so after paying the bucks they are asking.

I rarely fish these lakes but I can relate to the catch and release crowd. Not everybody wants to catch and kill. I would think SARL could probably make a C&R only pond and enforce barb less artificial lures only. I think it would be a success in drawing anglers if the pond had a good number of trophy fish. It could be fenced it off to separate it from the other lakes, sell different color permits to make it easier to manage, enforce rules such as no bait may be in possession of any angler in this area, no barbed hooks may be in possession of any angler in this area and of course 0 fish in possession rule. If the Lake Management wanted to make it even more difficult for the potential fence hoppers they could put up signs offering free passes to any one who snitches out poachers anonymously of course.

Those who believe in catch and keep could fish in the other lake. The staff would still have to keep a constant eye out for the true offenders who disregard limits and regulations. The individuals who keep every fish that fall victim to their hooks or even nets in the cases which involve poacher extremists. Those who fit in to this profile need to stop living in denial and accept the fact they are thieving criminals who have stolen property they have no legal right to keep. In my opinion not knowing the regulations is not an excuse. Based on what I have witnessed most poaching is committed as a premeditated crime with the poacher knowing the law and having no hesitation or remorse in breaking the law or rules in this case.

Most will say the fish is the victim in this crime but the way I see it there are multiple victims. The fish is the immediate victim and anglers (not fellow poachers) are the ultimate victim. When I go fishing and find that one of my spots has been poached I feel like I've been robbed. For those who poach you need to understand your only f*&#^!* for the rest of us and that's why situations like this develop. Not only are they hurting the fisheries which directly affects us the anglers but they are also fueling the flames of the environmentalist which is just another battle we are faced with. It's not any easier to fish these days. If you guys see poachers in action in public waters please call Caltip and I'll do the same. Poachers beware (neighborhood watch is in effect.

Well put Jerry!!
The catch and release lake would be cool.

I felt like mentioning a few of the points that you did, but I already preach too much.

The real losers (the poachers are already Losers with a capital "L") are the kids and families who pay more and catch less.

Trout goes for $3.50 a pound at the supermareket. 3 fish that weigh 1lb. (minus the guts and gills) over limit is tantamount to stealing $10.50. The lakes just pass on the loss by raising the fee or planting less fish.

I don't know if this is even any of my business, as I wouldn't be caught dead paying to fish one of those holes, but it P#ss#s me off seeing people use this board to brag about, encourage, or condone poaching.
