Hey whats up everyone, im heading out to lake Las Vegas for the 4th of July weekend i was wondering if anyone on the board has any info on the place as far as water clarity and level, type of forage the fish have and especially what kind of baits they like. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Good fishing to everyone.

I was at Mead out of Echo Bay the end of May. Air temps 111 to 115. We got on the water at 4:30 am and off by 10:30 am. Back on at 5:30 pm till 8:30 pm. The best LMB/SMB fishing was off steep drop offs from 5-15 feet with a drop off to 45-60 feet around the islands. Also fished the same pattern just out side the narrows in the Virgin Basin on the North side. Cranks in shad pattern and grubs in shad colors as well.

My brother and i had a great time there last August - hot, empty and great bite:

Hot - Started at 7am and finished at 1. Went from ninety something to a hundred and something.

Empty - Our lake. The only two on the water.

Bite - Got quite a few on spider grubs in the shade around reeds and rock walls. Best of all was from noon to 1. Topwater bite was nuts. As many as 4-5 casts in a row.

We would recommend renting a boat. Although you can get around by shore.

Hey Bro!

Don't even bother fishing Mead during the day, unless it's from first light to 7:30 AM. IT'S SO FREAKIN'HOT YOU'LL BE MISERABLE! If you do, Throw Spooks and Rico's, and drop-shot purple worms. Hula grubs work good as well off the walls as well.

Look for Stripers busting schools of shad anywhere, and I swear you'll never have a more ballistic top-water bite.....EVER!
(I DID DESTROY A SPLASH-IT DOING THIS THOUGH, BE CAREFUL!)

My club had a tourney there last JULY and it was 124 degrees!
Satan was sticking them though!!! Ha Ha!

I'd go to the Casino's during the day, AND THEN FISH MEAD AT NIGHT!

The bite goes WIDE on Crank Baits then!

Good luck bro!

tsunami, that would be awsome for you to come down here! Poways been pretty good, last week my freind got a 6and a half off a bed and site fished one on a bed that was over ten but all she would do would nose us. We caught alot of fish! He got 1 on a 6inch mission fish on a bed. And he also got nailed free casting, and cranking it in we see the thing still behind it, but when it saw the boat it was gone!
Bassinator kid is up at cachuma, you might see him at BWW.
Let me know when you are planning a trip!
good luck at LV!

Tsunami, I'll be out there as well, you going to ICAST? If you want to hook up and charge that lake, let me know- I'm driving out there so I can bring tackle- I have all of Saturday free

Is it cool to fish that lake? Looks like an oversized golf pond, I see they rent boats with electric motors, though- shoots, the heat is too much for the old security guard to chase you off, I bet...

I think you have to have property on the lake or stay at the hotel on the lake. They only allow electric motors.

It is a bit bigger than it looks. We trolled around for 4-5 hours and hit new ground the whole time.

Quick story I forgot onthe last post. My brother was throwin into some cover and hung up in a tree branch (spider grub). The bait was 6-8 inches out of the water. A small bass jumped twice to get it out of the tree, the second time with success.

Private lake, no pressure.

Topwater at the dam pic included...

oh my god its so on!!! Thanks pm for all the info, i already loaded up on the hula grubs cuz i kinda figured they would eat those there. Bassnet im not going to icast, im actually just hanging out w/ my girlfriend and her family for the weekend. We are staying at the Hyatt out there on the lake so ill be able to charge all morning and afternoon while she is sunworshiping by the pool. From what ive heard its a private lake and you have to either live there or stay at one of the resorts to fish there, if theres any way I can get you in ill definitely try. Hey pm I heard there are alot of toads in that lake, did you guys get any sizable fish when you were out there? Ive seen some pictures of some double digit fish coming out of there. God i cant wait to throw some top waters and buzzbaits and just hear that toilet flush when the fish hit it. What else do you suggest i throw?

Hey Tsunami,

All 1-2 pounders. Maybe 1-2 a little bigger. No real quality fish although they said they are in there. Okay - the final tip. We heard that there are some big fish at this one place at the damn. It is a corner just right (if you are facing the lake)of the docks. There was a few tires in there,

We used a standard Rebel Pop R in the Tennesee Shad pattern. We also used the Silver/Black back pattern, but it didn't work near as well as the Tennesee.

The Spider grubs were zipper - smoke black with silver flake.

It's perfect that you are staying at the Hyatt. If you walk out the front and hit the small cove with the reeds to the left (if you are facing the lake) you should find some as well.

Mike
