What kind of fishing are you looking to do? Bass? Trout? Catfish? Panfish?

Try Silverwood Lake in the Fall.

Boating is a good choice. I like the eastern side arm. I think that is Cleghorn? Not really sure. I have caught cats, bass, & trout there. Also, I hear the Crappie bite can get real good sometimes, but, I don't know when cause I never tried. They say near the docks. The guys at the bait store proclaim this. Try calling the boat rental place for better info on this. I don't know the # for the boat rental place, but, I do know some others that might help you get the #. Ranger office (760) 389-2303 & Camping reservations (800) 444-7275. Hope this helps.

For trout i used 4 lb. test, a gold Kastmaster, & a Panther Martin (i think that was a bee color - yellow/black). It was also A.M. time. Go when they start stocking trout again. The 1 & only bass i caught there was on a little shad imitation (Castaic soft bait) off some point. I casted far and let it hit bottom, then worked slow w/ little finess. I used an Abu Garcia rod & Shimano reel w/ 10 lb. test for the bass. I am not a bass fisherman, though. For the cats, I used nightcrawlers dipped in some attractant & mackeral. Fished before sundown & after from shore. Cats & trout are my favorite choice for fishing. I suck at fishing for bass.

Man you have the best of all worlds within 1-2hours.

Castaic, Pyramid, Casitas, Piru and Silverwood. For the summer I would check out Silverwood. Castaic would be my first choice for sunfish, trout and Bass.

Castaic would be my first choice from where you are at....otherwise Pyramid , Casitas or Piru. For whatever you're fishing for, use nightcrawlers with a light split-shot rig....you'll catch all kinds of different stuff. For lures, try 4.5 in. Lt. Oxblood Roboworms or small spinnerbaits, minnow jerkbaits.
