Fellow fishin Freaks,
Not sure that this is the right forum for this but I have to vent. Myself and others have been very cordial about helping people with info about the duct. If you are gonna fish here, clean up your damn trash, and please practice catch and release or just what you need for a nice meal, not the entire friggin neighborhood. I live out here to be away from the crowds. I have been outta town for a couple of weeks and hit one of my fav spots last night to find untold empty beer bottles, empty liver containers and a group of guys who had 5 fish on a stringer that were so small I would have tossed them for bait.
Enough is enough. If you want info email me. I will be more than happy to help you any way I can. These damn Barni's are invading my turf now and is really irritating the hell outta me. Yes it's partly my fault for posting directions and the such, and I hate to stop doing that, but if this is how I get repaid the hell with it.
Lots of people here have helped me here and I just wanted to do the same. My e-mail is posted with my profile if ya need it. Sorry to so crass, but these are pristine areas lets keep them clean and full of fish for our kids, thanks.

Tight Lines,
Bank Pounder

I know what you mean. My favorite little pon that I'm not actually supposed to fish has become over populated wth barn dogs. I haven't said anything but people ask me questions about it when they see me and I see the same loppy people there the next week. Not only that, but they keep 6-8" bass and the popo has started to crack down on the few elite fishermen who can actually fish the lake. Messed up.

I wouldn't worry about 6&8" fish. Worry about 5lbers or better being taken out of a specific pond. I read alot about pond management and they say you can take out hundreds of pounds of fish per acre especially the little ones that are competing for the same food. The larger fish eat bigger food thus keeping the balance between predator and prey in check. Those fools leaving trash behind is unacceptable.....BassMan

Hey Bankpounder,
Are you positive that the people you are reffering to are from this board,if they are then they are lame and should know better but if your not its a public place your talking about and it could be any tom dick or harry out there trashing the place. Its happens evrywhere all the time,it sucks. If they are from this board then you learned the hard way about sharing info on the net,and thats one of the reasons I dont and many others dont who have in the past. You work to hard and spend too much time and money finding your honey holes to have then tramped on by people who havent invested there time. But dont let one bad apple spoil the whole batch,Im interested in hittin up the concrete river one day,but if I need info Ill pm you.Tight lines and good vibes,
Billy.

I hear ya BankLber. It does suck to see such crap being left behind. The more trash around the more reason for the state to not allow fishing because of the cost it would take to maintain a clean duct. Word can get around even through this site's posts. Which will bring more people to put more pressure, trash, and stress on the population of fish at the duct. I thought sharing was a good thing. But, sometimes A SPOT YOU LOVE is worth more than the reason to share it. Too bad if you think that is greedy. I will from now on refer to my duct spots as "1 of my spots". ALTHOUGH, this will not change peoples' habits. They themselves must come to realize how important it is to maintain a clean duct & release small fries to ensure a FUTURE of "access" to the duct with the "possibility" of catching a huge fish.

You guys just don't know how pissed off I've been about this. Some of you might remember that I used to answer questions about how to fish
the stripers in the duct a while back. Well let me say that I wish that I had done that. I know the duct is hundreds
of miles long but in reality it's very small. Ever since I opened my mouth the fun of fishing the duct has gone down hill. Everyone with a fishing license has the right to fish it but the truth is too many people are _ucking it up. Like Bankpounder said trash all over the place, alot of chicken liver buckets, And the spots that I used to be able to go to and stick a double digit fish "And Release it" has meat fishermen all over them.I've been fishing the duct since 1993 and it just ain't what it used to be.You try to be cool to a guy that promises on his life that if you give him some tips he wont tell a sole. Then you get off of a long day at work, head up to one of the spots and there's guys on both sides. I've learned my lesson. From now on I don't know #hit. For those of you that think I'm an _sshole for the way I feel, I don't really care. I live to fish and fish to live............I got _ucked twice this year. First fin & Feather and now the duct.

All,
Thanks for showing me I not some looney fishin fanatic. The trashed spot I am referring to is so far off the beaten path you would be hard pressed to stumble across it and my ignorant ass posted directions.
Shane you helped me alot when I first came to this site about fishin the duct and I appreciate it, now I realize why you were tight lipped about certain things.
On the bright side I contacted DFG and gave them the location of a few spots where these barn dogs are hitting up and they assured me that can alter there normal spots to check out any locations where anglers issue complaints about these s#$%eads.
Thanks for the support and as I said I'll be happy to help anyone with info, just not in an open forum. Thanks for the support and tight lines to all of you.
Chet

I use to post a lot and after the same thing happened to me I stopped...

I am sorry the people disrespected your spot and know that I feel the same way...
I hope the same people read this and change their habits...

Hey guys sorry to hear that you had problems with one of your fav spots. I've lived in the Antelope Valley for over ten years now and appreciate those who in the past had shared some of thier secrets with me and others. Although the duct is not my number one place to fish it is my 'local water' and it's a shame that others don't want to clean up after themselves.

I was actually arrested & ended up losing about $10K in a lawsuit 2 years ago after I confronted an @sshole that was tossin' his beer cans in the water up at Big Virginia. It's amazing that these people are even capable of reproduction (they had to come from somewhere). My parents would've tore me a new one for spitting sunflower seed shells near the water. They new as well as I that the seed shells are biodegradable but, that wasn't even the point. It still looks like $hit when you hit your favorite hole, and some genius has left all his "environmentally safe" waste all over the place. Hey, when I take a dump what's leftover is biodegradable organic material right? I would hope that most human beings are decent enough to refrain from leaving their landmines all over the spot they've been fishing.
People actually laugh at me and call me "The Ziplock King." This is mainly becuase I carry a box of them with me whenever I'm out fishing. There's a box in my backpack and a dozen of them in my tube. They see all these little sandwich bags and think I'm either a drug dealer, or catching fireflys or something. They all get the same answer..."Hey, I'm a smoker....but, you'll never find any of my Newport Cigarette butts on the ground where I fish. I also like to toss back a couple cold ones from time to time. The only thing I ever leave behind (that I brought) is my line, hooks, swivels, lures, and sinkers...and that's only because I got snagged up on some $hit or (if I'm lucky) I farmed a nice one.

And the whole thing about havin' a stringer-full of little guys...That's another one of those things that eat at me that you probably don't have enough time in the day to read.

In a nutshell...No, I'm not some tree huggin' geek with nothing else to do...I just figure that at 25 years old I have developed (what I would like to consider) a pretty good philosophy on not $hitting where I (or anyone else for that matter)sleep, and of course I expect other people to at least come close to living by the same standard. Unfortunately, there are those few (still too many) that either don't care or are too damn stupid to realize what they're doing. And, the downside about being only 25...I'm too young 'n stupid to keep from wanting to push someone's teeth through the back of their head when I see them doing something similar to what has been done here.

I applaud your efforts Chet. Contacting DFG to get them to observe those areas is outstanding. I hope these $hithe@ds pay dearly for what they've done...May the bites of 100 mosquitoes be inflicted upon the scrotums of these offenders...with arms too short to scratch.
Tight lines 'n bent rods to most!!!

Welcome to the boards guys, those of you who have been on Calfishing for a while probably remember all of my posts on the local pond stuff around LA and OC. Welp after seeing the numbers of people double if not triple at the places where i would only see only a few heads i decided to stop posting. If you dont know of these places already, then it sucks to say but..........you dont need to know. Im always down to help people catch more fish but im just not gonna be specific on the places. later fellas

LOL Dylan,
Hey I just notified DFG, but a 100 skeeter bites to the nads, WOW. If your noggin is better and you ever want a partner for a night run at the duct, just shoot me an e-mail. I just live a few minutes from where it crosses the 14 at Ave S. That goes for all you avid cement river fiends.
Chet

Sounds good to me...I'll keep you posted...Things have been a little rocky here on the homefront for the past couple days...So I'll either be stickin' around for a while kissin' some serious butt for a month or so, have all the free time in the world, or have absolutely no time for the next few years. The first one is most likely. Sorry for all the personal info there...I know it's much more than you guys'd like to know...I just always prefer to have all my cards on the table...That way, there's nothing to dig up later...Like if I were to catch a trophy fish...You can bet I've got a camera stashed away in one of those Ziplocks. Along with plenty of rolls of film. You guys'd have no idea how many "other people's personal bests" I've had to shoot 'n mail, because I was the only one around with a camera.

Anyway, it's time for the little princess to go to bed. Until next time...May you all hook up big over the weekend.

Tight lines 'n bent rods to all!!!

Dude, I know exactly how you feel!!! I find that it's better to be upfront with those Barnies right there and then....and then back it up with the politics. Many California fishers are plain old stoooopid and blowin' it for everybody. I hate stoooooooooooopid fishermn and women!!! Hugs and kisses, James.
