The only bass up that way are in ponds down around Bishop. I don't know where those ponds are or how to get there but I have heard that they exist. Up in Mammoth there are no bass. Too cold for them up there.

Two years ago I caught a little smallmouth in Gull Lake that is only a bit north of Mammoth.

Haiwee reservoir has bass--it's on way to mammoth about half way-plus on 395--don't know if it's open to public now or not.

There is good fishing for bass in Bishop in Buckley Ponds. Any tackle shop can direct you there.
