#4557, "Mammoth Report"
Tue Jun-25-02 04:27 AM

Ok so we were at Mammoth Lakes this weekend in the beautiful Snowcreek Condo complex which has small ponds around it with trout and no fishing signs....

We woke up Saturday and took the new bus system down to to the Devils post pile drop off. We fished the San Juaquin River where on my first cast with a Thomas Bouyant 1/6 Gold with red and black spots I caught my first Brown Trout. Small fish maybe 6"-7". Then I tied on a black with yellow spots and gold blade panther martin in 1/16 and caught a 9" stocked rainbow and 3 more browns.

We met back up with the rest of the group and made the hike to Rainbow Falls. I wondered down to the base of the falls and tied ona green micromite and caught two weird looking wild Rainbows (turns out they were mostlikely Golden Hybrids)

On the way out we hit a big pool just above the falls and I lost two on a gold and red super duper and caught one on the panther martin.

The next day we hit convict lake on the way out for horseback riding and a little more fishing. Caught one wild rainbow and one stocked rainbow on a blue and silver Kastmaster.

All fish were released

Very good trip, lot's of fun up there.
