Launched the yak around 6:30am, fished till 10:30. Got bit on my first cast, but missed it. Worked that section of tullies for a couple more bites. Moved across to the oak tree, missed a couple more. Finally stuck my one and only (about 1.5#) tossing a Core-shot Senko into the tullies. Spent the last 3 hrs getting two bites. Tossed more Senkos, and flipped the Ika (no bites there). Tried some DSing, and the blade, plus tossed my new Optimum trout.
Air and wind were cold, water was cold too (maybe59ยบ). Didn't really warm up till right before I left. I met a tuber, who got his first bite as I said hi. We chatted a bit, sounds like it's been slow there since Nov. He looked to be throwing a T-rigged 6" Aarons Magic.

Wow Calaveras - there's a name from the old days. I graduated from Vista High School in 1969 and was lucky to fish Calaveras a few times back then. I had great luck tossing crank baits at night from shore catching nice chunky bass. Back then Calaveras was a wild place out in the middle of nowhere at the end of a fairly long dirt road. It had the feeling that we were sneaking in and probably didn't belong back there. I always waited for the sheriffs to come by and chase us out but it never happened. I haven't been back in at least 20 years - it's probably a bit different by now. Perhaps surrounded by houses.

Shane, go to mapquest, look in Vista, off Emerald. Please practice C&R. A reseident told me someone had killed 15 big bass there last fall. What a tradjedy.
