Well, my prediction for fishing today paid off. I've been fishing a small local lake for the past few weekends trying to develop a pattern. My strategy was that the rain we've been having would warm the water enough to put them into a pre-spawn move. I was also thinking they would be holding in tight to some beds of vegetation. I was right on the money today. I fished for a couple of hours this afternoon and picked up a 4 pounder and a 1-1/2 pounder. Both were on a Texas rigged purple lizard. Just thought I would share my new learning experience with those who might care.

Very cool. I have heard they move in and stay close to cover. But you never know with California bass. Glad to hear it is consistent. My local little lake was too muddy and they let out as much water as came in, so I did'nt fare as well. We are hitting one of the big lakes tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes.

By hook or by...

Yeah, let me know how it goes. I think this spring I'm going to venture out a little more. So I'm looking for some spots to come check out. I live in Bakersfield and I've actually only been fishing for the bass specifically for about two years. So I've mostly stayed close to home. My big lakes are Success, Kaweah, and Isabella. Also I'm a tuber and I've only been doing that for a year basically. But I'm learning fast and getting better at it. I'm looking to fish at a competitive level some day. Mostly for fun. It sure would be nice to win something for all the effort I put into though.
