My buddy Brandon and I stopped by Bolsa Chica on the way to Fred Hall for some perching. This was the first time trying this beach for both of us. Yours truly forgot his license and ended up being the tackle caddy and picture taker for this outing. I called a DFG warden who's cell number I have and he recommended I not chance fishing w/o it as he was not the one patrolling that stretch today. Anyway, the beach looked awesome with beautiful troughs and little rips everywhere. Brandon got bit a lot but only landed one on the BH perch grubs. We were right near the entrance as we had no idea where to go. Whole entire beach looked fishy though. We were there for about an hour around 12 noon at mid outgoing tide.

David,

Perched Oceanside today. What a bust! Full moon with residual recent storm leftovers. Overall, conditions looked good but they wouldn't chew my BH 1.75 grubs that were laced with smelly jelly shrimp sauce.

I hadn't been out in 5 weeks due to work commitments so at any rate...it was cool to have sand under mt feet with sunshine and cool salt air. :-)

This report is on another board and a person there accused me of saying it was ok to break the rules if you knew the right people. Here is my reply to it so we don't get off track here.

"Guys, sorry to mislead you with my comments. I'm not saying it's ok to do that at all. Some background: this particular warden entrusted me with his cell to directly report poaching activity quite a while ago. We had 1/2 to 1 hour to fish max due to scheduling mess ups that morning and I asked for his opinion on what I should or could do. He was strictly by the book and told me what the regs. are. Yes, I guess I was looking for a little grace as my whole schedule had gone to pot that morning. He knows I have a license and and am on the up and up. So was I wrong in looking for some leeway? Looking back, yes. I could tell he was uncomfortable with my request. I guess I still could have fished without anyone seeing me as the berm was so steep it hid us from view but I didn't. I hope that gives you a clue to my character. I could have slid but I didn't."
