I started off this morning fishing Santa Claus Lane in the rain but didnt have any luck. Apparently neither did any of the 3 other guys I saw there, so by 9 am I left and headed for Summerland. Things were lot different there. I was using a carolina rig with a 3/8 ounce weight, 6# main line, and 4# leader. And my good old motor oil and red fleck grubs. I was using Pro cure calico juice, or should I say a mixture of what little there was left in the plastic bottle mixed with lots of WD40. Shaken, not stirred!!! I would cast deep and within the first few cranks get big hits, when I miss them the smaller perch in the shallow waters would take it. Overall I had about 18 perch in the 8-10 inch range, only 2 were about 3 inches long. At least 3 times I got bit by what I think were halibuts. Twice my grubs were short bit in half, and the third my grub, hook, and all were cleanly bit off. And I did catch one 18 inch guitarfish. All in all it was a fun day. I think I will return in the morning and throw nothing but a 3 inch swimbait, a halibut sounds nice!!! If I get lucky enough to catch a halibut I will post a pic. Stay safe and happy fishing!!! Cali Bear

Hey Ellis!!! Sorry about that!! I was parked above the beach at that park where you have to walk down the hill to the beach. I started throwing my grubs straight out from the bottom of the walkway, then walked down the beach to the east end. I did go back there the morning of the 14th but no luck with the halibut. I threw my swimbait out, all the way down to the floats at the eastern end of the beach without a single bite!! Feeling kinda of bummed x( I rerigged for the perch and casted it out coming back to the west end. I had a good time playing with the perch. I would guess I caught about 20-25 perch of various sizes. I know the house and seawall you are talking about, so I will give it a try. Thanks for that info!! I have no idea why I didnt go all the way to the wall. Perhaps because it was getting dark, cold, and the clouds look like they were about to open up. Maybe even because I was freezing by that time. :7 Again thanks for the info Ellis. Stay safe and happy fishing! Cali Bear
