I am a spin fisherman from way back and having moved to LA recently, I have been looking at fishing the coastline. I am more of a beach and surf fisherman, not so much of a party boat guy. I also don't fish bait.

Here's my quandry. I am considering buying new gear and cannot decide if I want to redo the spin route or try fly fishing. Has anyone tried both?

Any opinions of one versus the other?
