#11732, "Santa Ana River Jetty, Seal Beach Jetty, and 72nd Jetty..."

The plan was to make bait at 15st in Newport, fish the Santa Ana River jetty at low tide. Then head for Seal Beach Jetty with the extra bait. And maybe to 72nd jetty if any bait is left.

Didn't go according to plan. Got to 15st around 6. Made about 60-70 piece of bait (live smelt) but not the one i'm looking for. All the smelt were about 2 inches long except for 3 smelt that went 3". Went to SAR jetty anyway throwing 5" white plastics. Threw in the channel for about 1 hour for nothing. After making bait at the bait buffet, got to Seal Beach jetty around 9. Water was milky and full of debris and kelp. By now the wind was blowing pretty good with white caps. Stuck it out for about an hour with nothing to show for. Headed to 72nd jetty with the extra bait. It was no better there. Floating kelp every where parallel to the jetty. Since I was there already, I stay there for one hour, also nothing. went home smelling like SKUNK. Talked to a guy at 72nd jetty, he got 3 short when he got there and the wind was blowing and the kelp weren't around. Also talked to George a regular at 72nd, he had only one pick up all day long. I'm thinking maybe the wind blew the hali into deeper water??? I'll probably be back out Sunday. Heading over to Lake Skinner tomorrow.
