Just got off the phone with a close friend who commercial fishes in San Diego. He's a reliable source, I worked with him for a season on the Producer.Anyhow, he was fishing commercial rockfish on the Mexican coast today in nice weather. He decided to make the run out to the 391 were albies HAVE been caught since the end of the season. He ended up with 2 troll fish, nobody was with him so it was impossible to slide any bait back in time, no boils were seen. The water is 60.5. I totally believe him, he doesnt bullshit like that and he was was too excited. He also got top dollar for those fish at a couple sushi bars. I may go down there next week, if for nothing else to fish bull bass in the weeds of ensenada.
Just a very interesting bit of dope I thought Id put out. Could we have holdover albies here all year long? YES!

Josh & Mike Dunlap on their boat STRIPER went out of ensenada for some christmas albacore. We ran into a bite way better than we hoped for. At 60 mi on a 290 heading we got a single strike on a rapala that turned into a wide open bite for 3 hours. We left them boiling, tired and loaded up with fish.
I was going to fish albies tomorrow but the weather is up in San Diego, according to the same source who got the guppies a week or so ago.
The SEa Adventure had 15 fish from 30-50 lbs and a few paddy yellows. Unprecedented for DEcember, unbelievable doesnt describe it.
3/4 day boats hAd been wacking the yellows on the ridge off north island but that died today. Boy that was a relief, that was going to be plan 2
Maybe after x-mas....
