i only have time for a quick report. did manage to launch a kayak successfully from the beach on Saturday in pretty large waves (and actually made it back in too!) Unfortunately the kelpy areas that i was eyeing from the beach turned out to be completely devoid of life. there are some better looking areas that require a more substantial paddle that i will try next time.

i did have some good luck catching perch from the shore with grubs (nose hooked, Carolina rigged - motor oil) i ended up with 5 in an hour or so including 3 absolute MONSTERS; one of them being far and away the largest perch i have ever caught. the big one was taking line and took a couple of minutes to fight to the shore! they were all released.
