Can you tell Newport was slow? I sure could. Launched at 4:45am, landed at 12:00. 9 fish for 7 hours. Only 3 were legal, 2 spots and a sand. Nothing was really working great (obviously), though watermelon zippers and freaks were what I caught everything on. I did lose a big big bass though. I was working a line of moored boats when I got bit. I swung hard and the hook was set. There wasn't any big pulling at first. Then all of a sudden it was taking drag and heading straight for an mooring chain. Next thing I know, no fish. Next time perhaps.
