9/4 Took the family to Santa Claus Beach noon to 6:45 p.m. Steady perch bite all day on sand crabs but with the surf bigger and more undertow present, weights were upped to 1/2 - 3/4 oz. At 5:35, I got one 17-inch corbina. Minutes later, my wife got one a bit smaller. Only two perch were over 9 inches. Lotsa eel grass and brown kelp floating in the water.<BR>9/6 fished Arnold Road in Port Hueneme from 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. Water is colder here than up north. There is a lot of green seaweed (the kind opaleye like) floating in the water making lure fishing about impossible. Got four small perch on sand crabs. Pretty stinky from fertilizer on nearby fields.

This beach is located just north of Carpenteria and south of Santa Barbara about 15 miles. It's easily identified by the big Santa Claus perched on one of the stores on the ocean side of the freeway.
