Hit Shelter this morning. First time there in the daytime in almost a month and a half. Launched just after 6:30, first fish at 6:45. Had a limit of spotties plus a short by 9am. All were on the smoke/sparkle Edhog. Plus, I busted off 3 and lost baits to another 4 or 5. Things slowed down for a while and I picked 4 more spotties on Edhogs, a brush bug copy, and the 9" grub (motoroil/ red flake I think) over 2hrs. The last 1/2hr I pulled 2 spotties and 2 sandies. All were on the 9" brown and orange grub. Big fish for the day was in the 2.5 zone. Most were around 1 - 1.5. Nice to have bass thumb again, it's been a few.

Oh yeah, also had one pissed off Sculpin, about 14" of shear terror (I'm rather reactive to their venom). That thing was shaking like a pitbull, but it did stop long enough for me to safely pull the hook and throw it a good 5' away from the tube.

Water wasn't too cold, and when the wind wasn't blowing the air was nice too.

Hey Ed, those be some big baits you are throughing. Very interesting. Who makes the Edhog? I'm picturing a 1.5 spottie chomping onto a 9" swimbait. Man, that bait must be almost as long as the fish that inhaled it. Those spotted bay bass sure are aggressive and they fight like no other. We used to do a lot of night dock fishing in N.B. and the spotties were always the coveted prize for thier unusually hard fighting ability.

Dave, the 9" is a grub and it is big. I had some of them for a while before I actually tried them. They just seemed too big. But, they work really well and usually yeild better sized fish. Though my friend who pours them catches shorts on them all the time. We fish them on 5/0 wide gaps, T-rigged.

The Edhog (named by Brian) is a bait I'm developing. I got tired of buying freakbaits and we couldn't find a mold for one. So I started making wax prototypes, then made silicone molds off the wax models. My work's R & D Dept has been a big help, providing me wax and a finished mold. The first version didn't have the action I wanted, and now I'm on a second version. Still many changes to make, but all are secondary tweaks (I hope). Hopefully I'll have a finished fully fishable version within a month.

Ed, any chance of finding some Edhogs in Billy's? You should come up here and fish the Village. Before the locals snag all 5 of the nice females off the beds.

Chris, These are really just a way to fish cheaper and have some fun. I suppose if they really start producing, or are super consistent I'll consider trying to sell them. Email me at amished@hotmail.com, maybe I'll give you some to try since I know you like the freaks.

Thanks for the Heads up on the ponds, maybe I'll bring a rod to work one night this week. If you see a guy w/ black pants, long sleeve white shirt, and tie, that's me. My last to post work trips haven't yielded anything. Then again, I don't think I put in an hour total. Did your friend ever move down here?
