Hello everyhone...

I went down to the river jetties for the afternoon on Wednesday...When I got there, I saw the north outlflow had carved a nice channel parallel to the beach just like the more second outflow...This left a nice, long sand bar about 70 feet out with the channel in between the sandbar and shore...I found a deep spot in the channel and I started probing the depths...I was flyfishing so I had a chartreuse clouser with a ghost shrimp pattern behind it...I got bit three times actually hooking up and fighting fish on two of them...Solid halibut...The two I actually fought had me on my reel and were freightraining out line...Not so fast, just steady and like they were not going to stop...The third I had right up to the drop off but I lost it trying to get close enough to it to land it...

Hi Mike,

I think I've seen you over there. Seems like everytime I go there the same guy is there fly fishing in the same spot. Are you going by the Rivers End area? Have you seen Tony and Halibut Willie over there?

Replying to both Kiyo and Fishunter...

I am not sure what the rivers end are would be...So I will try my best to descrive where I fish...There are two channels for outflow...With a stretch of beach in between...I usually enter on the north side of the northernmost outflow/channel...I will fish above the channel, in it, and if it is slow for me and the water is shallow enough, I will cross the channel southward and fish the strech of beach...Lately, the first outflow has carved a trough parallel to the beach so I fish the sand bar outside of that following the beach...Then I will fish the north side of the second outflow sometimes going back up the channel to where the bridge (pch) is...Sometimes I will cross that channel and fish the southern beach below that which becomes Newport...

I enter the state beach pay parking at Magnolia and head south in the long parking lot until it ends at the river...I park right over the river (part of the final part of the parking is on a bridge right over the main channel) and then I walk down to the beach...

I went back today...Conditions were VERY different and I zeroed...Oh well...
