#6201, "This weekend's reports"

Sat 5-25-02, Shelter Island. 5:00 - 11:30am:
18 Spots (a couple were actually sandies) to 3.5#. 1 nice Calico that was 2.5+. 2 short spots. Tubes were the producers, with red flaked ones doing best. Also had a few on the 9" grub in green/holo flake. Last 2 fish (a spot and the calico) fell to a baby bass Kinnami, rigged weightless and tossed at a couple marker bouys.

Today, 5-27-02, Oceanside shoreline, 8:00am - 12:00:
Perch Jerking was good for numbers, but size left a bit to be desired.
Using mostly motor oil/red flake, 1.5" Kalins I lost track at 30 BPs. Most were 4-6", but three were in the 10-12" range. The Hotbait was a 1" craw by Riverside Plastics. Steve and his wife Lisa roped quite a few, including Lisa's 3-4# corbina, using this little bait. Steve gave me one before he left and I popped a nice BP on it right away. Water was nice, maybe 64 degrees. I rolled Steve's yak trying to ride a wave, and only got cold because of the wind. Crabs are more spread out now, I guess they're done with their orgy.
