#9863, "6/2 Newport Cuda"

Me and a couple buddies went on the morning half day run out of Newport Landing today. We started off chasing the 'cuda schools around for nada. Not one bite so the captain said lets set up for some bass and maybe the cuda will bite a little bit later. The bass fishing was pretty slow with maybe 15 legals landed. I got one small sandy on a 4 inch swimbait and two of my friends got small bass on the squid. This one guy next to me caught a 4 pound calico on the surface iron. Then we got the call, the cuda were biting so off we went. When we slide up on the schools there was cuda boiling every where and every jig that went in the water was bit. It was basically every cast was a big cuda, between 6 - 8 pounds. I was busy hooking and handing to two of my friends who didnt know how to throw the surface iron. It was a fun day on the water.

those are some nice looking cudas! i have been wanting to do a half or 3/4 for them. i'll either do daveys locker or newport landing. ive done daveys before but it seems like newport landing has been doing better on the cuda. does anybody that has done both landings have an opinion on which landing to go for.

great job on the cuda
mike

I usually go out of Newport Landing instead of Daveys Locker for the reason that Daveys seems to get alot more people on the boats. I hate fishing crowded boats .
