Here's my review for the ABT Wag Tail. You guys looking for a smaller bait for spots and smallies should pay attention to this one.

Wow, I wasn't expecting much before I read the review of this bait. I don't really like the on-line appearance, but I've heard nothing but good things from about a half dozen people. $22 is very reasonable as well. An 8"+ would be a great idea. This could be a good bait for the mid western guys who need a slow introduction into swimbait fishing with a smaller bait.

I hope I conveyed what I think about the bait correctly in the review. The main thing to understand is that the lure is 5.5" long, so it's not something to imitate planter trout, it's more of a small minnow or baby trout imitator.

Lakes in Southern CA aren't going to have any 5.5" trout in them because the trout don't reproduce naturally, but some of the big resrevoirs up north here like your Shasta, Oroville, New Melones, Folsom type lakes very well may have trout this size. And the action of the bait just speaks spotted bass to me. Not that it won't catch largemouth but I know that big spots love baits like super spooks and vixens, and this bait is so similarly sized and fishes near the surface so it just feels like a strong match.

hope that helps some

Rob-
Would you suggest this blue-ish color for spots or do you think it is too blue? i can see what you mean where if it was a little different it'd be a good kokanee color. but i didnt think the trout color was super good either... what color do you think would be best for spots? based on my other swimbaits i catch spots on (other than the hudd) i'd think the chartreuse shad or midnight shad would be the best.
thanks a lot

p.s.-like the idea of the 3rd hook + the price :7

I think you're on the right track. The blue back one in the review is a very bright blue. I haven't had a chance to see all the colors in person, but the chartreuse shad and midnight shad do look like good spotted bass colors just based on the pics. The pics on TW are the ones you want to look at when picking your bait.
