#1051, "Got Bass!!!!!"

I finally did it, I got one over 10. MY bass weighed 12lbs 7oz. What a fish. I had another one on that treed me also, she got off but felt really big. I aslo caught a 4" bass on my 12" castaic trout. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures I will put one up.

Congrats! Can't wait to see 'er.

(p.s. just 'attaching' your photo is alot simpler than getting it to show within your post. I'd suggest just leaving it at that for now, & save the 'tricks' for later -- I wanna see that hawg!) :- )

The details are a long story. What whould you like to know? I just started fishing for big fish 4-5 weeks ago. I made 2 trips to a lake and fished almost the whole thing trying to find fish. The spot I had the most followers from (biggest also) is where I concentrated each time. First trip 4#+, second trip 4-8, third trip 4-5 bass to 8# and missed the big girl, fourth trip got the big girl. On my third trip after catching 7 bass total off of one spot on a 9" castaic, I tied on a 12" castaic while my buddy stuck with the 9". I started getting followers right away while he did not. And about 3-4 casts in to our pass she hit me, I didn't set and she followed it to the boat and took another nip at it(in old posts) The next trip after trying one new spot I headed queitly tward the big fish and on my second cast she rolled on it about 2 feet under the surface. Just a slow steady retreve, I had put scent on the lure. The second I set the hook she came to the surface, I coud see right away she only had the stinger hook, I just kept her up and comming. I had to swing her aroud twice to keep the line taught and grab my net. One flip and she was in the boat. I popped the hook and put her in my 150quart ice chest and went back to fishing where I had another big fish hit me , I set and felt her shake, the next thing I know I am hung in a bush or tree and she is gone. About 10min after that I set the hook on a branch underwater and my castaic trout comes up with a 4" castaic baby bass swimbait hooked to my trout. Very Funny! I am slowly going through my lures and trying to catch fish on each. So far I have had quite a few on the 9" castaic, 2 on the 12' castaic(6-8 and 12-7), 2 on a 7.5" optimum dark trout, 2 on my 12" MS Slammer (3-0 and 5-0). The slammer is looking good right now, as the Castaic bite seems to be done. I am going to give a more detailed story to worldrecordbass.com as I have been talking to chuck quite a bit.

This little fishy didn't swim away, to be caught another day? (Don't worry, Robbor, I'm one who can accept a bass or two being kept. It's just that the picture kind of leads itself to the question).

This fish was released back into the lake where she was caught! I had no reason to keep her other than pictures. Too fatty to eat and I'd rather have a replica.

No, that would be illegal. I would never do something illegal. But I do not kill fish for no reason.

Hey Robbor,

Either thats the coolest Houseboat ever built(has a yard and everything), or that fish left the lake. Not that I care what you decided to do with the fish, but the picture makes us ask these questions. Good job on the toad!!

well dude all i can say, is have you ever seen a house at the lake?? if so, you understand that that pic might have been taken with him facing the lake....so you wouldnt see the lake....but who knows? its his fish he can do what he wants with it, but releasing would have been for the best. i have kept maybe 5 or 6 little 2 lbers a year, to keep the trophy population growing, and to have a good meal!

I did keep a fish for one of my neighbors about 2 weeks ago and I kept the smallest fish, which was 6#, becauce as most bass fishermen might realize, big bass have huge amounts of fat. I feel 4# bass are better for eating than big ones, but I do not care for the taste of bass anyway. I returned the big girl to carry on the gene pool.

I think what everybody's getting at here, is, if you released the big fish, why is there a picture of you with the bass in front of somebody's house? Not implying anything, just curious.

Hey Patrick,

I HAVE seen many houses on lakes DUDE! As a matter of fact, one of my favorite lakes is completely surrounded by houses. I have many pictures of fish from this lake and not one shows the front of any of the houses. This is because the lake is in BACK of these houses. Like you said, its his fish and he can do with it what he wants. However, you post a pic of a toad with no water in sight on a board like this, and we will ask what happened to the fish. I'm not knocking the guy by no means. Helluva fish.

Tight Lines,

Clay
