#11095, "Okeechobee Golden Shiner"

Here are some photos of fresh wild Okeechobee golden shiner. I'm using the 6" Weedless Huddleston to compare and contrast. Ken makes a pretty damn good bait, trout or shiner or whatever.

Feel free to email me if you would like high resolution images of these ( I have many more ) or anything specific if you are a bait maker/painter: southernswimbait@gmail.com

Thanks Matt P! Those are great comparison photos. I always heard about golden shiners in southern MN and your photos make it easy to decide which 6" Hudd color to carry back there this summer.

Somehow I forgot to post these. I'm getting a few fish on the 6" Weedless Golden Shiner on the Big O. When they eat it, you hook them. I missed a couple that just sorta bumped the bait. I'm fishing around a lot of bedding bass, so they don't eat real well sometimes I find:

Good job Matt. That's a really close match.

Is it just me, or would you like to see a Basstrix style paint job/finish on a Huddleston?

Taylor: I did throw the bull shads. Mike made me some golden shiner ones. The problem is that on Okeechobee right now, you can't fish a bait with hanging trebles very much at all. Very few pockets in the areas holding fish had enough open water to throw anything. I mean, no spinnerbaits even. Okeechobee is insane vegetation and thick muck fishing. You have to get 100s of yards into the muck to get into clear water, and once you're there, you gotta fish weedless baits only pretty much. The 6" Weedless Hudd fished great in some of the sparse areas/boat trails for me.

Oh I see, at least there are enough baits going now that there is always one that you can fish. Tight lines!
