or swimbaits which don't have the twisting or curling problems that Dave B. mentioned. I think I have a great idea.... but haven't found the 'stuff' yet....

I'm thinking that a guy should be able to find some clear plastic tubing (round will probably be the most common, but it won't stack as nice in the tackle bag... square would be the bomb) and also, slip on caps for each end of that particular tubing. I would imagine that this tubing would be available in several different diameters, and could be easily cut to any length.

I will do some surfing today, to try to find something along these lines. If any of you guys can find something like this, please let us know, and I will do the same.

They make them allready for saltwater trolling efathers and suck i doubt they would fit the larger wood baits though.

Chris, try visipak.com, they have several types of tube packaging, we use them for our 16" worms that we send to Japan.

I can get clear pvc pipe. Sizes are 1"-4". You just need a standard pvc cap or you can use the rubber ones. Pipe is measured by the I.D., so 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" would be best for like a 9" slammer. I get tis stuff in 10' lengths. Let me know if you need some. Jerry

Kind of a cool thing to carry your baits in a easy veiwing case.

They will also be available to accomendate the larger 9-12" lure sizes.

The thing is with the plastic not having a chemical reaction to other plastics.

but nothing available in square tubing, huh ? Not that major I guess.

Oh, and one more thing to keep in mind (now this is just from what I have heard, and not something which I have experienced) but you should not put your wooden swimbaits back into a plastic tube after use, without allowing them to dry overnight. Supposedly, the water which has soaked into little crevices around hook attachments and such, will not be able to dry and can damage the lure in time.

I have seen water damage on some of my homemade plugs. They didn't exactly have the greatest finish though. I suppose it would be true for any wood lure. I'm guessing a few well placed ventilation holes would probably help a bunch. :-)

Yes this is true.

I notice if you don't allow the lure to dry
Placed away back into the container condensation of water
could from on the in side of the wall of the plastic tube.
This could lead to premature rust.

With this in mind we cut out the ends of the caps to allow more air.

But always best to allow lures to have a chance in drying out. :)
