Im drivin down to so cal for the weekend and am hoping to hit up one of the lakes sunday morning with some swimbaits. The only place that I know is getting stocked this week is castaic lagoon. I will probably be without a boat...which lake do you think has teh greatest shore/swimbait possibilities right now (for bass and/or stripers)? I was thinking DVL, perris or castaic lagoon...any suggestiosn? shore spots to try?

If your willing to go all the way to San Diego, San V or Otay is a good choice. El Cap is also opening next weekend. San V is probably your best chance of getting a swimbait fish right now. Thanks. Steve.

Castaic lagoon has a very limited shore fishing area, more than half of the shoreline is off limits and it is a very small lake. I'm not sure about DVL, might be better for numbers but not big fish.Big deep lake,so probably too soon for shallow bass, but you never know.
Your best bet from shore I think is to walk around at Perris, you have several points you can walk out on and have a good shot with a swimbait.

Actually, this past week's Santa Ana here in San Diego messed up the boat dock pretty bad. It couldn't handle the wind apparently so the big wires broke or something and now the end of the boat dock is resting against the side of the boat dock cove and they wont be renting boats for a while now because of it.
I've been getting some worm fish here and there but no swimbait fish right now.
I'm gonna be there this wednesday because I dont have any school so if I I hook up on any swimbait fish I'll let you know.
