Several days last week were perfect for bed fishing. Lots of large fish in the shallows, but I couldnt get anything over about 9. Well, the storm rolls in on Thursday, and by today (Saturday) its classic post front. I wake up around 1030 look outside and think Im not going fishing. But then I realized I had nothing better to do, so off I go.

Quick lap and find exactly what you would expect, shallows empty. So, I backed off and threw my new bait that has been backordered for almost six months. On about the 10th cast I hook up with a good one, but it comes unbuttoned. As time goes on that fish is really eating at me, but I just knew it wouldnt be the last (ya know how a bite is so right you just know your gonna catch fish?). Stick a 3 30 minutes later, then 10 minutes later get crunched. Up comes a rather distorted 11lb 1oz fatty. Im stoked, get some photos, let it go. Nothing for the next 3 hours, and the wind is howling. I was on my way back to the ramp, but just had to cast in this area I have been watching a big fish (its sniffing around some deep beds, but hasnt committed yet). Anchor up and cast out. I get one of those nibble nibble bites, then again, and then I more time. On the fourth I get slammed and rear back. This fish is hot and Im thinking I may have a teener. After a quick but good fight, I lipped a perfect 10lb 9oz chubby. And that was that, decided it was time to go have a beer.

Im still shocked I got two over ten on a butt nasty post front day like today. And BTW, both fish were ram packed with eggs, and the big one looked like it had a big trout stuffed sideways in its stomach.

Man, nobody's gonna reply to a 2 double digit day? Maybe they're afraid they'll end up on the DFG blacklist for talkin' to you :+ . Good job catching a couple of those handfed bass. I only made it out to the pond a couple of times last month and didn't get any good ones. I gotta get my hands on one of those baits. Let's see some pics!

Ya got me scratching my head about that DFG comment.

As far as pics, I was gonna send them to Chris, he said hed make sure they were up to his sites standards, and the standards of those who frequently catch doubls D's.

Its not often this blind pig finds an acorn, but after a year of committment Im starting to figure things out and gain more confidence.

I'll give you high kudos for the great catchin'(I have yet to nail one with a swimbait:( ) !!!

I just know how fond you are of DFG's management policies and methodology, that's all. I don't think they're gonna revoke your fishing license any time soon so don't worry. I'll keep an eye out for those pics on TBO.
