A guided trip can be pretty expensive. But I don't think you could ask for a more experienced fisherman than Troy Folkstead.

I really don't fish Castaic enough to tell you what would be happening at the lake around March, depends on allot of things.

As of last year, Troy has no boat and is not guiding. But things could have changed. He was the man on Castaic back in the day!! ... If you want to travel down here to Orange County, ill get you a double digit fish in March!!
Take care and good luck !!!

Gregg Silks-inland guide service. Go to www.flexbait.com for the phone number. Tell them Shane from Palmdale sent you. They will put you on fish and make it fun at the same time.

Sorry to hear that, I was just going off of hear say and his record, not personal experience.

Hope you find someone and have a good time.

Check out the link below. I've never fished with him but i've seen/talked to him on the water and he seems like a personable guy. Very friendly and willing to share info...

March is a really good time for Castaic. I don't know about a double digit fish though. I just caught a 12.29lber two weeks ago during a club tourney and from what I am hearing that is one of the largest fish to come out of that lake in years! So if you are after double digit fish I would recommend Casitas instead or go down to the Castaic lower lagoon which has a lot of big fish.

As for guides, I have heard alot of negative stuff about Troy (Not knocking Troy) so I can't recommend him but Gerry Mahuia is an awesome guide out of Mission Viejo and has a good rep if your mind is set on Castaic. His website is www.catchmorebass.com But if you want to go to Casitas then maybe the Ojaiangler guide would be a better choice.

Hope this helps.

You will have a few choices on guides / lakes......it sounds like you are looking for a lifetime fish, first of all, nobody can or should ever guaranty any kind of success on a teen fish. You should pick a time / lake where your odds are greatest to even have the opportunity on hooking one......then come the variables on if that lifetime fish is even boated....that's where the "no guarantee" comes into play. I have had many clients "on" double digit fish, whether they were able to convert was the key. I could go on about guides and lakes, but I won't use this or any forum to advertise my business. My advice, do your homework and talk directly to the guide(s) you are interested in hiring, if he / she, feel they can't fulfill your need, then they can at least direct you to the right person who may be able to dial you in. Good luck on your quest! :-)
