I'm looking at coming out to SoCal in December and wanted to try a little tubing in one of the harbors. Can someone direct me to a site where I can see the pluses and minuses of various styles and makes of tubes?

If your going as far south as S.D then the spot would probably have to be Glorietta Bay in Coronado. Depending where your at just get on the Coronado bridge and take the first right the park should be on your right. float out torward the bridge and go at it you can use live bait about everyhting if your targeting the bass and like lures/plastic then a refular spoon type should work just fine just cast torward the bridge or you could use just about any crank bait or plastics. it is a tideland with alot of kelp. the best times are 1hr during the high or low tides. For more info try sdfish.com they have alot of good info and the board is similar to this one.

Thanks for the info. We may go to Dana Point, but if we go to SD then we'll try the bridge. Does anyone use a pontoon rig and use a kayak paddle or is it always kicking? My arms are a lot stronger than my legs are. I saw a Water Skeeter rig tha looked like it could be paddled.

it's pretty much even but to get distance between the shore and you your best bet would be a yak also it would be easier landing the bigger fish you can catch out there. good luck

I have a tandem yak, but I don't want to cartop it all the way from Denver to SoCal...it whistles. I just need to get something to do me for the day, Monday before Christmas. Unless there are some kayak rentals in the area??? Anywhere from L.A. to SD??
