I was gonna go fishin', but #!$@! it's cold!
Cold, clear = stay home and study...and surf.

OK, so I've been off the subject for a while. (steelies instead of bass) But despite the cold, pre-spawn is around the corner.
It's just about time for me to switch gears.
I'm thinking trout plugs, big worms & crawdads at Spring lake and smallies around the Lake Sonoma dam.
You up to it Samurai? Maybe in a couple weeks depending on the weather.
I still haven't climbed aboard the MS Slammer bandwagon but I'll get a couple of 'em before to long.

If the rivers are prime though, I'll fish steelhead... until the season closes at the end of March. The way things have been going, when the river is good, the bass fishin' won't be. The Russian seems better when it's still a bit on the muddy side, right after a rain. By the time it looks "steelhead green", there are so many people fishing for them, the bite shuts down.
The window of opportunity is small, about 3 or 4 days so the interests shouldn't clash.

By the way, I hear Spring Lake is really low, like a lot of lakes and rivers. Pray for rain.

tight lines,
Chris

You are just going to have to let me know when where why and how! I'm going through my schedule for this upcoming year and it looks as though it will be pretty busy. I'm definitely looking forward to hooking up on some lunker bass though!

I talked to the owner of Fly Fishing Etc. in Petaluma and he told me there seem to be about 100 steelhead taken a day lately. Seemed a little high but he's a reliable source. If you have a fly rod you should look into that option since the water is probably low and clear.

Anyway, good to have you back on the board! Talk to ya soon!

Todd
