#16010, "Delta Open Results"
|
Results of the 1st annual Delta Open.
1st place, & day 1 big fish John Lake, 24-3, big fish 10-11(lbs/oz) 2nd place, & day 2 big fish Sal Plasencia, 23-14, big fish 4-4 3rd place, Doug Tyler, 13-11 4th place, Steve williams, 10-9
The weather was HOT and the fishing was good. There was also a casting contest on Saturday night won by John Lake. The accomadations at Beacon Harbor were first rate and everyone had a great time sitting in the shade shooting the bull. We want to thank all who attended, and a big thanks to the staff at Beacon Harbor for putting up with us. Hope to see you all there next year. Mitch

Well, I would like to have added a great hi-light to the Sunday weigh-in, with the *10-spot* I was sure I had hooked yesterday morning, but alas, it goes down as just another fish tale. Had her right there at my feet, looking up at me in all her glory, after a 30-40 second battle (on a wacky-rigged, 6-inch Senko). One moment of inattention as I was struggling to grab my net -- I see now I should've had all my attention focused on the *fish*! Never should've let her get back down to those weeds on the bottom (still not quite ready for prime-time, I suppose)!
Still wouldn't have won, but I woulda given John a run for his money vs. his 10+'er on Saturday. Ah, well, it was a memorable, unforgettable battle, in a memorable and highly enjoyable tourney (yeah, those Beacon Harbor guys were great! Couldn't have made us feel more welcome, by my estimation).
Thanks yet again, BnT, for giving me the chance, by getting me there in the first place (and to Joey & Mitch in particular, for running this inaugural 'Delta Open' event -- flawlessly executed, as far as I could tell).
Guess we'll get 'em next time!
