Is anyone planning on getting out tomorrow? Thursday or Friday? What about this weekend?

It's getting HOT in the delta the next couple of days. I'm thinking of taking the frog rod out to Middle River for some early morning action, and stay away from the crazies }(

Not sure but I might be able to fish Saturday only. Middle River for frogs/buzzbaits sounds good to me. I'll post again once I get the green light.

sat soounds good maybe the 4th too. how is old river below the barrier this time of year? fishing all that wood in rodman makes me want to fish more. fished jigs in the wood for a fun time . top water was pretty good out of county park. bill from scbbc caught a 9, 7, and a 6 on top. water was very clear for county park compared to the pea soup color last year. the grass is growing really thick as well:7

Looking pretty good for me on Sat. As far as Old River is concerned I have never fished it. If you want to fish it and know where to launch I would be willing to give it a try though. Does it have a barrier to keep out the yahoo's like Middle River?

Cool on the nice sack that Bill caught! I'll have to check out your forum for the details.

I am heading out in my kickboat on Saturday, don't know where yet. I was thinking of fishing around Franks Tract but have never done it in my kickboat. Would anyone like to meet me out there? Maybe I could launch at Beacon Harbor to get some pre-fish in for the Open? I may be willing to head out to Middle River, but it is a far drive from Sacto.

Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what have-yous

Hi John,

I may not make it out on Sat after all. I was a bad boy last night (drank like h-ll) and am in the dog house today. Had a good time though. Anyway, I should have a better feel for this later tonight or tomorrow.

If I do make it out it will probably be Middle River primarily because there aren't any (or at least many) boats up there. That and I think that Franks is further for me although both are quite the drive from Santa Cruz.

102 in Livermore right now! Damn that's hot!

It looks like I'll be out there Sat as well.

Went yesterday for a while. The morning top water bite sucked for me but the buzzbait bite turned on after the tide changed in the afternoon.
Yo Nick ya bailed about an hour to early bro :+

I didn't make it out today... reason very similar to Clint's. TOMORROW, I'll be out there ALL DAY. Unfortunately I have weekend plans and can't make it on Saturday.

I find it hard to believe that both Clint and Mike F. drank too much on the 4th of July, and were put on detention }(

Well, it's true that my drinking a bunch is not too unusual; getting in trouble over it is. Anyway, I am still waffling on driving to the Delta tomorrow. I have to get up brutal early anyway to reboot one of my servers but doing some stuff around the house would be a good thing, uh, politically.

I wasn't in the dog house with the wife, but physically uable to rally Thursday AM.

I got a late start on Friday, hitting the water at 8:00 AM. I picked up 6 on a red Timber Tiger in the first few hours. After the tide turned, I scratched out about 10 frog fish; leaving the water at 6:30 PM. there was a light breeze that prevented the bite from going WFO (wide f. open), but they were SLAMMING the frog right on the bank.

I saw Mitch around 11:00 AM. He headed back before me and beat the wind.

IFISH say's,

It was getting hot for this little mammal and I was satisfied with my buzzbait bite, and called it a day. I was tired too, and was running off of 3 hours sleep. It's cool though, I still had a killer day by my standards.

The next day was a bit tough due to the wind but still I had a good time. I got out of bed at 2:30 am (got you beat IFISH; I got about 2 hours of sleep! :P ), went to work, and headed to Middle River. Got there about 5 am to blowing winds and cool temps. Daniel, Scott, and CZ were already there. Mitch pulled up as we were unloading. Got on the water at about 5:30...

Immediately picked up a couple of small keepers on a buzz bait across from the launch and started working my way up to the barrier along the levee. My third fish took down the buzzbait across from the pump, went 5 lbs 3 oz, and was my best fish of the day. I kept fishing the buzzer and kept catching fish. Not a lot of numbers but I didn't get hit on other stuff (granted I didn't try very hard) but ended up with the 5, a 3 lbs 2 oz, and about five or six smaller keepers, a pound to a pound and a half. Got too tired from fighting the wind and sleep deprivation so I got out just before noon and headed home.

It was a lot cooler and windier than I expected but other than that a good day.

I got up at 2:00 AM on Saturday, put the boat together, loaded up and headed to Franks Tract. Launched at Beacon and rowed into the Tract, had two fish blow up on a frog right away but they just knocked it out of the water without eating it. I spent the next couple of hour throwing a wake bait and a frog. Got one to swirl on the wake bait and one to absolutely destroy the frog but that was it. Rowed back into piper and worked the docks with jigs and senkos for one more fish and one that broke me off. Got off the water around 11:30, beat tired and frustrated.
