Report: Slow day, ended up with 3 about 4-5lbs. All with a T-rigged Chigger craw flipped shallow in the stick-ups after the sun came up. Water temp. went from 51-54. water 3-4 foot vis.
So I wanted to make my way back into an area called the pozo arm, but rowed all the way up close to it and found a very small bouy line and even smaller note posted saying the area had been closed for the spawn. The area is about the size of a football field(maybe a little bigger right now). This got me thinking, because they do this on three of the local lakes here on the central coast, do you really think by closing 10 % of a lake it would make that big a difference for the spawn? Lets here it for or against spawning area closures on lakes?

Thats a crock..better net it off with a "bass only" sign underwater so the catfish and carp dont go anywhere near it, and build a retractable roof over the top so no birds can sneak in. WTF?

hey joe thank god they didn't put one of those on the cal parks spawn cove.....
I think thats a little weird. I know lake chabot has an area like that all around the dock areas where they rent the boats they have signs saying "fish spawing area". I agree, the one at chabot is like maybe a football field size but i'd say more like half of one, yet that is the only cove closed off.
maybe thats where all the big girls go to spawn.......

Ya give a tree hugger one tree and they want the whole forest. Hell lets really protect the fish and close all lakes in California from Feb. through June!

It really goes either way for most. On the lakes here on the Central coast, Margi,Lopez,Cachuma they are not that big, so it is thought that closing off 10(or so) percent of the lake to fishing can better the spawn. But I have to wonder, does it really matter when the other 90% is getting hammered?.....There is one lake here that should be shut off from Feb - april for fishing, San Antonio Lake. It is really hurting right now.
