Salmon is over?! Bummer, I thought there would still be few.
I'll bet the next good rain will put some steelies in the river.

Here's my e-mail: chris@tweenit.com

We're supposed to get some of the wet stuff today, tomorrow and wednesday. If it doesn't turn the Russian to chocolate milk, LET'S GO!

Chris,

Call Joe Castro. He wants to do some salmon and the American is still open downstream from the guaging station down from Nimbus. He will probably do steelies too. Evenings best time to catch him at home.

Steve

PS When you guys really know what you're doing and you're sure I won't drown and can get in and out safely, I'd love to go with you, too.

I could say I highly doubt that you'll drown. But ya never know..."Events occur" and that would really suck. Bring a life vest, wear your waders and wading boots. Dress warm. Getting in and out is no problem.
A small run of Salmon are in the Russian during October. They're catch & release only and no bait is allowed until Nov 1st.
I usually consider the beginning of the steelhead season to start around Christmas but they can be found as early as Halloween if the mouth is open and we get a good rain or 2...or 3.
There is also an area I fish that is great for kickboats. Rowing upstream is easy, you don't have to worry about getting swept downstream and plenty of different spots to fish. It's an easy launch too.
Your certainly welcome to come along. You can crash at my place if you like. Be prepared to fish standard drift rigs or bobber rigs with roe, and pull Hot Shots or Wiggle Warts.
Go to http://www.steelheader.net for detailed info on those rigs if you've never done it before. They have a great message board too.
An 8 1/2 foot, graphite, fast action rod with a bass reel full of 10 lb test is ideal for fishin' the Russian. I have 2 so I can loan you one for the day if needed.

Give me a call if your into it. 707-794-0872

This is almost enough rain to saturate the ground. the next rain is where it's at. so chris or anyone else for that matter call my cell phone and we'll get em' believe me, steelhead is 100 times more fun then bass. so for the extreme give me a call!!
