#14290, "# 3 Federation Delta Tourney Report"

Well, my third B.A.S.S. Federation Tourney is in the record books. I fished this past Sunday and drew a guy by the name of Marty Hansing . Marty lives on the Delta and he knew it very well as did my past partners. We started off with blades and traps and before long I was netting Marty’s first keeper of about 2 pounds. He flipped it out from under a little isolated tree near Big Break. Soon after it was time once again for me to get the net and do it all over again for Marty. Then it was his turn to net my 2 pound’s 2ounce’s caught flipping a baby brushhog, junebug/red flake.

Then we jumped from spot to spot to spot to spot. Cranking , Blading, and lots of Pitching & Flipping.
The rain poured down on us in the we hours, but I’ll have to say that there is nothing like Burton snowboard pants and coat. Oh yea baby at the last minite before Darren K pulled up at my house with his sweet Ranger Bass boat, I decided to scrap the regular rain gear and put the old snowboard clothing on. I was as snug as a junebug in a rug at 75 MPH in the rain and wind, yahoo. Any way, Marty ended up with a limit of 14 pounds 14 ounces and I ended up with two fish, one keeper at 2 pounds 2 ounces and one rat of 11”. Once again it was a total blast fishing in a boat. This is well worth it at $105.00 with all options. For half the day I was the proud owner of a 2001 Procraft 19.5’ boat.
Darren Kazanco fished this tourney with me as a boater and he pulled a real good partner, I’ll let him tell the story, LOL.

Out of 46 anglers I came in 33rd place and moved up in the total points to 14th place.

Nice job Rich,

I fish the San Diego region and I am looking forward to coming up there again for the State Fish-off. Sounds like you have pretty good participation up there. We are only averaging about 25 guys.

Stay up in the top 20 in the points and maybe I'll draw you in the fish-off.

Later
Cameron

Man I love the Delta!!!!

Thanks guys, this is all new to me and Im really just kind of playing the new guy roll. What I mean is that the first tourney I chose to just stay in the back and check things out. Ont the second one I took the front for a little while. On the third tourney I took it a little more, but not any where near the full half day. So I really havent been totally fishing the way I would normally fish. In my mind Im worried about what this boat owner might be thinking about the water Im fishing and or chose to fish. There for I have been a little low keyed as far as really fish what I want to fish for half the day. I will get over this and soon start fishing the way I fish , in my water, in the front and I think I'll catch more, I hope. Any sudjestions from John L or others out there would be great.

Rich,

If you have water and you know you can catch fish there, TAKE YOUR HALF OF THE DAY!!!!!!!!!

Dont be afraid to run the guys boat or to move to your water. Just discuss it with your partner before you leave in the morning and figure out a tentative game plan.

Its really the only way to give yourself a chance to win!
