When I mount my transducer on my kickoat, since I will primarily be going in reverse, which way does the transducer face? Does the 'window' face the rear or the front of the boat?

Anyone have any easy mounting tips? I was just going to make a removeable bracket from pvc that mounted under the seat.

If you have a side finder unit, you will want the xducer facing the same direction as you face so that your left and rifght don't get mixed up. If you don't have a side finder type, the orientation should not matter since the transducer transmits a circular cone, and there is no determination of left or right inside that cone that can be translated to the one dimensional display. The most important thing will be finding a way to keep the xducer level and not tilted one direction or another.

I'm about to have to find a way to mount a transducer on my kickboat. I'd be interested in hearing how other folks have rigged up their xducers too. I'm really interested in finding a way to mount it where it won't get beat to hell. Under the seat seems like the most likely position, but I'm certainly open to other suggestions from other folks who have already done their's.

My mount is pretty basic and no doubt cheesy in some peoples eyes but I like it (hey, I'm a cheesy guy!) Two pieces of PVC pipe and one T connector plus four cable ties. One PVC pipe long enough to stick out from the frame past the pontoon plus sticking out a little extra on the inside so I can fasten it. On the outside attacha PVC "T" connector. From the bottom of the "T" put a second piece of PVC long enough to extend into the water a coupleof inches. Attach the mounting bracket to it and you are good to go. I do not glue any of it which allows me to swing the puck up out ofthe water when going through heavy weeds or rocks and such.

I'll take a pic tonight or tomorrow and post it.

Buzzzzzzfish

P.S. I position the puck sticking straight out from the pontoon. If it is under or next to the pontoon I sometimes lose bottom.

I'd do it tonight but I must take my wife and daughter to see the Lord of the Rings movie. They both wanted to see it last week for their birthdays (my daughters was on opening day) but I said No Way! because of the crowds. If I still have a lick of energy left after that I'll take a pic or two and post it.

Once you see it you may at least get a good laugh but I specifically did not want a permanent mount due to the weed thing.

Whenever you get a chance would be great. The mount on my tube was moveable. I made it that way for the same reason, the weeds and trees. The pvc joint was loose so it could be turned up or down.
