I don't have a picture of it yet but will try to post one tomorrow...it's the new Clear Lake Hitch pattern and it's EXCLUSIVELY at Outdoor Pro (707.588.8033) in Rohnert Park. I believe they have it in the 100 and 128 sizes (I have the 128 already :P ).

They do do phone orders but thought I would let you guys here know first since you're my bro's :D

I'll try to get the photo up tomorrow.

Tell them Todd sent ya!

Todd

Skeet Reese had the Pointer 128 in the new hitch color at the tank demo he did at the Sacto ISE show. He said he had asked the people at Lucky Craft to make it for him and that it will be the absolutely-without-a-doubt-number-one-hottest lure at Clear Lake this year bar none. He also said that the ONLY place it will be available will be at the Outdoor Pro Shop in Rohnert Park. Skeet gave away one of the lures to a guy who answered a question about when he first qualified for the Classic which was 1998 or 1999.

Didn't they also have the exclusive on the black and yellow Snag Proof tournament frog? What's the deal with the exclusives, does anybody know? Just curious...

Doug,

The reason for the exclusives is really thee-fold. One, it brings people to THAT particular store (thus $$$), two, it creates a strong relationship with that store with their vendor (like this with Lucky Craft and the Yellowhead Snag Proof frog last year, which is now available everywhere) and three, for the vendor, is a great way to test a new color and see if it would be viable to mass produce and distribute it to everyone.

At most larger stores that can order a fair amount of lures (or rod, reels etc - similar to BPS or Cabela's), they will do this to draw attention to their stores and hopefully keep those new customers coming back.

Hope I answered your question!

The yellow and black frog you are talking about is called the yellow headed black bird. Scott Green came up with that color scheme so it is only found at the Pro shop. their are certain things that are only found at there. You would need to cal them or go into the shop to find out. They are always getting new things.

Thanks guys. I hadn't considered the "test market" aspect of the exclusive deal. It sounds like Outdoor Pro Shop must be a pretty big store if they can swing deals with manufacturers. My mom lives in Sebastopol and next time I go down to visit I'll have to check out the Pro Shop and hopefully Spring Lake as well. By the way what does that sticker with Skeet's picture on the lure package say?

Doug,

I don't have the pkg in front of me but I believe it just states the stats, 1oz, suspending in 50degree water, etc. This besides the obvious "Pointer 128", "Clear Lake Hitch".

The bait actually looks even better out of the pkg. You can somewhat notice the "scaling" on the body portion in the pic but like I said, it looks even better out of the pkg and in the water! Can't wait to use it even more than I did this weekend at Sonoma (no fish on it yet).

Hey guys, just an FYI, Waltons Pond in Hayward has had these baits for over a year now. His have been custom painted to look like a hitch and I have used them with great success. If ya just can't wait to own one give him a call and tell him Cris Vanclef sent ya.

Hey CV,

I've seen those versions and I believe they're hand painted by a young guy in the Delta area? I think they're a little more pricy but they're cool!

These at Outdoor Pro are a little different (as seen in the pic) and are running $17.99 for the 128. This is painted from the Lucky Craft factory rather than a custom job.

BTW - what is Walton's price? I thought it was something like $30 or so, right?

That's a really nice color. Reminds me of my favorite Big Hammer color, #13 baitfish

http://www.swimbait.com/bighammer/images/h13.jpg

At $3.10 for a 5" bait and a 3/4oz head, it aint' such a bad deal, and I know they eat it at Clear lake <grin>.
